I build the parts nobody sees but everyone depends on: APIs, auth, data and the infra underneath.

About

01
  • Backend engineer who shipped and operated production services for a live gaming platform, from API design to the servers they run on.
  • I care about the unglamorous parts that make systems trustworthy: idempotency, sane indexes, least-privilege auth, reproducible deploys and searchable logs.

Backend Engineer

Backgammon Galaxy · gammon.gg

Aug 2025 — Sep 2026
Remote · Contract

Owned the backend of an online backgammon platform: tournaments, auth, delivery and infrastructure.

APIs & Data
  • Tournament engine in Node.js + TypeScript: bracket progression and state transitions for multi-stage events.
  • MongoDB schemas and indexes designed for brackets and users under concurrent load.
Auth & Security
  • Moved all services to a central Keycloak IdP with OAuth2/OIDC verification and RBAC.
  • Hardened the edge with Nginx: TLS termination and per-route rate limiting.
Delivery & Ops
  • Zero-downtime, single-commit releases via Bitbucket Pipelines, Docker and Harbor.
  • Centralized logs with Fluent Bit → OpenObserve instead of SSH-ing into boxes.
Client
  • Built the React Native app for iOS and Android.

Problem Handle renewals and expirations without a polling loop hammering the DB.

  • Redis-backed workers for renewals; MongoDB TTL indexes expire records natively.
  • Distributed sliding-window rate limiter on Redis sorted sets.

Problem Payment webhooks retry, so credits must never be granted twice.

  • Razorpay webhooks with signature checks, idempotent handling and atomic writes.
  • Credit-based tiers behind JWT middleware and schema-validated endpoints.
